Boston 5 Poker

About

Boston 5 Poker is officially now one of favorite games! It was requested to be added by "Lorraine" in Texas. Like many of the games in Riverboat Gambler, I had never heard of it before. Now, after adding it, I would love to find it in a casino somewhere because I suspect it could replace Mississippi Stud as my personal "Go To" game! If your casino has this game, please let me know! Maybe we can play together. ~Danny

In Boston 5, the Player plays "Heads Up" against the Dealer. The game is dealt from a standard 52-card deck; there are no wild cards. Both Dealer and Player will receive 5 cards from which they will make their best poker hand. The best hand wins. However, the Ante Bonus that gets paid can help to reduce the amount of a loss because it gets paid on any hand that ranks as 2 Pairs or higher regardless of who wins the hand.

great thing about the Ante Bonus is that it is paid against the original Ante wager. It is not optional and does not require the Player to place any additional wagers on the board.

The odds paid for the Ante Bonus are staggering when compared to other games, like Ultimate Texas Hold'em and 3 Card Poker which have similar "free" bonus payouts. Quads pays 100 to 1! That's crazy considering it's 40 to 1 in my fave, Mississippi Stud!

The optional Trips Bonus is similar to the other games that have folded in the 3 Card Poker variant. If wagered, it pays for a Pair or better hand based on the Player's first three cards.

How To Play

Like most casino carnival games, Boston 5 Poker uses a "forced betting" structure. To receive the first 3 cards, the Player must place an equal wager for the Ante and Blind bets. These wagers may be between the minimum of $5 and the maximum of $500. Additionally, the Player can place an optional wager for the 3 Card ("Trips") Bonus. This wager may be between the minimum of $5 and the maximum of $100.

Wagers are placed by tapping on wager spots on the table. For all wagers, once the maximum, allowable amount has been reached, an additional tap will reset the wager amount to zero. A wager can also be reset by pressing a spot and holding for a brief moment.

Once all wagers have been placed, the Player will press the Deal button and play will begin. When the Deal button has been pressed, the Dealer will receive 5 Cards and Player will receive his first three cards.

Acting After the Deal

After the Player has reviewed his cards, he will need to decide to Play the hand or to Fold. If the Player opts to Fold the hand, the game ends and the initial Ante and Blind wagers are forfeited. If the Player wagered on the optional 3 Card Bonus, that bet will be paid if it matches the Pay Table that can be found in these instructions or by tapping the game logo on the board.

If the Player decides to stay in the hand, he will place a Raise wager that is twice the amount of the initial Ante wager (the same amount as the Blind wager). When this wager has been placed, the Player will receive his final two cards, the hand will end, and a winner will be declared.

Declaring the Winner

In Boston 5 Poker, the best 5 Card Poker hand wins. If the Dealer wins, the Player forfeits the wagers for Ante, Blind, and Raise. If the Player wins, the Blind and Raise wagers are paid at odds of 1 to 1 ("Even Money") and the Ante wager Pushes. If the hands are absolutely equal, the hands "Push" and the Player wagers for Ante, Blind, and Raise are refunded.

Ante Bonus Payouts

The Player will receive an additional Ante Bonus payout for hands that are ranked as 2 Pairs or higher. This payout occurs regardless of who wins the hand. This means the Player can lose the hand but will still get a payout which can help to reduce the total loss on the hand.

Wins from the optional 3 Card Bonus will still be paid when the Player loses the round or the hands push as a result of a tie.

Quick Replay

After the hand has ended, if the Player presses the Deal button, the same Bets will be placed and new cards will be dealt. If the Player does not want to repeat the last wager, play will resume after new wagers have been made and the Deal button has been pressed.

Note: This game was designed to support "Player Slow Roll". Look for this setting under "Preferences" When it is on, the Player cards will be dealt face down and the Player must tap on cards to reveal them. The game will not continue to the next stage until all cards have been revealed.
