Texas Shootout

About

Texas Shootout is a variant of Texas Hold'em in which the Player and the Dealer go heads up against each other and the best hand wins. The only decision for the Player is whether to play one hand or two hands against the Dealer and which cards to use.

Texas Shootout is played with six ordinary 52-card decks. Anytime the remaining number of cards falls below 52, the decks will be reshuffled. There are two optional bonuses in this game.

The Shootout Bonus may be wagered from $5 - $500 and pays when the Player's final 5-card poker hand matches a qualified hand as shown in the Pay Table.

If the Player opts to split her cards to make two hands, an additional Shootout Bonus wager will automatically be made in the same amount as the original wager. If both hands in a split situation make qualified Shootout Bonus hands, the Player is paid each bonus.

The Quick Draw Bonus may be wagered from $5 - $100 and is paid when a qualified Four Card Poker hand can be made from the Player's initial four cards.

How To Play

Starting the Game

The game begins after the Player has placed a required Ante wager and any optional bonus wagers and pressed the Deal button. At that time, five Community Cards will be dealt and the Dealer and the Player will each receive four cards.

As in the other Texas Hold'em variants, the object of the game is to make the best five-card poker from a total of seven cards. In order to do this, the Dealer must discard two cards. Those cards will be discarded following the criteria that is outlined later, under 'House Way'.

The Player, too, must make a five-card poker hand from seven cards. Like the Dealer, this can be done by discarding two cards. Cards are discarded by tapping on them.

However, the Player also has the option to split his four cards into two hands; each containing two cards. A Split is created by tapping the Split button and wagering an amount that is equal to the original Ante wager. When the Player splits, he creates two seven card hands: one pair of hole cards plus the five Community Cards and the other pair of hole cards plus the five community cards.

In a split situation, the cards can be moved between pairs by tapping them. Each tap of two cards will cause the cards to change places. Once the cards have been arranged to the Player’s satisfaction, pressing the Deal button will end the hand and a winner will be declared.

In order to win the hand, the Player must beat the Dealer. There are no pushes in Texas Shootout; the Dealer wins all ties.

House Way

The decision of which two cards the Dealer discards is governed by a strict set of rules as set forth below. The dealer shall play the two-card hand appearing highest on the following list. In the event that two hands of the same rank are possible, then the dealer will play the cards with the higher individual rank. An example of each hand follows each rule.

  2. High card is an ace and low card is jack or higher. A, Q
  3. Any suited pair 2's to 7's. 6, 6

Reading the Board

Colors have been used in an attempt to help to make the community cards for the individual hands identifiable.

The Community Cards that are used by the Dealer will be identified by a dot above them.

Those Community Cards used in the Player's primary hand will be identified by a dot beneath them on the left side.

In the case of a Split hand, the Player's secondary hand Community Cards will have a dot beneath them on the right side.
