Asia Poker is variant on the popular Chinese game Pai Gow. The game is played with a standard 52-card deck plus a single Joker. The Joker is a wild card that can be used as an Ace or to complete a straight, a flush, or a straight flush.
The object of Asia Poker is for the Player to use seven cards to create three poker hands, a 4-card hand, a 2-card hand, and a 1-card hand. The 4-card hand's rank must exceed that of the 2-card hand and the 2-card hand must rank higher than the 1-card hand. These hands will be played against three corresponding hands that the Dealer will build from his seven cards.
In order to win the round and get paid even money for his ante wager, the Player must win 2 of the 3 hands. In cases where there is a tie on any of the hands, the Dealer wins.
To begin the game, the Player will place an Ante and an optional Bonus wager. Tapping on either the Ante or Bonus buttons will increase those wagers by the default amount ($5, $10, $25, $50, $100) that is defined in Preferences. A maximum of $1000 is allowed for the Ante; a maximum of $100 is allowed for the optional bonus wager. Holding down on any wager button for a brief moment will clear the wager.
Once an Ante wager between $5 and $1000 has been placed, the Deal button will become enabled. When this button is pressed, both the Dealer and the Player will be dealt 7 cards. At this point, the Player has two options. He may make his own three hands or he may opt to play his cards by the same rules that govern the Dealer. Those rules are outlined below under the section "Playing the House Way".
To play his own cards, the Player needs to define his Low Hand and his Medium Hand. Creating these hands is accomplished by moving one card to the spot for the Low Hand and moving two cards to the spots for the Medium Hand. Cards are moved by tapping on them and then tapping on the desired destinations for the Medium & Low hands. To remove a card from either of these hands, simply press and hold the card for a moment. When the Low & Medium hands have been finalized, the Play button will become enabled. Pressing the Play button will finalize the Player's High Hand and a winner will be determined.
As stated before, the High Hand must be of a higher rank than that of the Medium Hand and the Medium Hand must be higher than the Low Hand. The Medium Hand can only contain pairs and singletons; there are no 2-card Straights or Flushes. The High Hand can contain all standard poker hands with the exception of a Full House and Royal Flush.
The Dealer plays his cards based on specific guidelines. If the Player opts to "Play The House Way" by pressing the that button, his hands will be determined using the same guidelines.
Most of following guidelines were taken from WizardOfOdds.com:
For purposes of the House Way, cards are classified into the following categories:
Play the 3rd highest card in the Low Hand, the 2nd and 4th highest cards in the Medium Hand, and the rest in the High Hand.
With a High pair, and either no High singletons or one High singleton lower than the pair, split the pair between the Medium and High hands. Otherwise, play the Pair in the High Hand.
Split the Two Pairs between the High and Medium Hands. Exception: If you have a pair of Aces or Kings and no High singletons, then play the lower pair in the High hand and split the High pair between the Medium and Low hands.
If one of the pairs is Aces or Kings and the singleton is Low or Medium, then play a card from the High pair in the Low Hand, the other Ace or King and the singleton in the Medium Hand, and the other two pair in the High Hand.
If the singleton is Low or Medium, then play a card from the highest pair in the Low Hand, the Medium pair in the Medium Hand, and rest in the High Hand.
Otherwise (with no Ace/King pair and a High singleton), play the singleton in the Low Hand, the highest pair in the Medium Hand, and the other Two Pairs in the High Hand.
Play the 2nd highest singleton in the Low Hand, the 1st and 3rd highest singletons in the Medium Hand, and the rest in the High Hand.
the highest singleton in the Low Hand, a Jack and the 2nd highest singleton in the Medium Hand, and the rest in the High Hand.
Play a Jack in the Low Hand, the two highest singletons in the Medium Hand, and the rest in the High Hand.
Play the same way as three 2-10.
Play a pair in the High Hand, otherwise maximizing the Low and Medium Hands.
Split up the High Three of a Kind between the Low and Medium hands. Play the Low Three of a Kind in the High Hand.
With no High pairs, split the Three of a Kind between the Low and Medium hands, and play the Two Pairs in the High Hand. Otherwise, play a card from the High pair in the Low Hand, the Low pair in the Medium Hand, and the rest in the High Hand.
If the hand contains a High pair, split the pair between the Medium Hand and Low Hand and then play the trips in the High Hand.
If the hand contains High trips, split the High trips between the High Hand and the Low Hand unless there is a singleton that is higher than both the Trips and Pair values that can be played in the Low Hand. In that case, play the high singleton in the Low Hand, the Pair in the Medium Hand, and the Trips in the High Hand.
If the hand contains neither High trips nor a High Pair, play the trips in the High Hand and the pair in the Medium Hand.
Play a Straight or Flush in the High Hand if a pair can be played in the Medium Hand or if High Cards can be played in both the Medium and Low Hands. Otherwise, use the Two Pair, Three Pair, or No Pair rules.
With a Low Four of a Kind, and two High cards including an Ace, play the Four of a Kind in the High Hand.
With four Aces or Kings, and no High singletons, split the Four of a Kind into a pair in the High Hand and one card each in the Low and Medium Hands.
Otherwise, split the Four of a Kind into a pair in the Medium and High Hands.
With four Aces or Kings, play three of them in the High Hand, and one in the Low Hand.
Otherwise, play the pair in the Medium Hand, and the Four of a Kind in the High Hand.
With four Queens or higher, and a Low or Medium Three of a Kind, play the Three of a Kind in the High Hand.
Otherwise, play the Four of a Kind in the High Hand.
Play an Ace in the Low Hand, two Aces in the Medium Hand, and the rest in the High Hand.
Once the Player's hands have been decided, a winner is determined by comparing the Player's three hands to the Dealer's three hands. If any two of the Player's hands beat the corresponding Dealer hands, the Player wins the round.
In cases where a Player hand ties a Dealer hand, the Dealer hand wins.
Regardless of whether the Player wins the round, a Bonus wager that was made will be paid if a qualifying hand can be made from the Player's seven cards.
Qualifying hands can be found in the Payout Table that is available in these instructions and by tapping the logo on the gameboard.
After a hand completes, if the Player presses the Deal button, a new hand will be dealt and the same Ante and Bonus wager amounts from the preceding hand will be made.
If the Player does not want to repeat the last set of wagers, play will resume after the Player has adjusted the wagers and pressed the Deal button.
