Keep It Straight

About

First, I want to give a huge shout out to Dylan who requested this game. Like most of the games, the best games always seem to be those that individual Players request so they can practice when they aren't in their favorite casino!

"Keep It Straight" is going to quickly become a favorite of those who already like "High Flush" (a.k.a. "I Love Suits"). It's basically the same game except instead of chasing Flushes, the Player is chasing Straights!

Like Suits, the 8000 to 1 payout for a 7 Card Straight Flush really makes for some excitement. As with several other games in Riverboat Gambler, the Player can opt to reveal his cards one at a time by toggling the option in Preferences. That helps to amplify the anticipation!

This game does have an interesting twist that I've not seen in other games, though. If the Player fails to qualify with at least a 2-Card Straight, he must Fold and the hand ends.

Personally, I really like this game! I'm still trying to figure out if part of the House edge is based on some mathematical certainty that when I have a large Straight, the odds of the Dealer qualifying seem to decrease 😂. Regardless I'm sold and I'm looking forward to finding it in Live Play! Nice pick, Dylan!

Let me know what you think and be sure to reach out if you have any game requests of your own! ~Danny

How To Play

Starting the Game

To start the game, the Player must place a wager amount for the Ante. This wager is made by tapping the Ante space. Each tap will increase the wager by the default amount ($5, $10, $25, $50, $100) that has been specified in Preferences. The maximum amount for the Ante wager is $500.

After an Ante wager has been made, the player may also make a separate wager for the optional Straight and Straight Flush bonuses. These wagers will be paid if the player has a qualifying Straight and/or Straight Flush hand.

For the Straight Bonus, the Player must have at least four cards in a Straight.

For the Straight Flush bonus, the Player must have at least a three card Straight Flush.

Each bonus hand can use different cards.

The Player is not required to beat the Dealer to win these wagers and will be paid according to the schedule defined in the Payouts Table. The maximum amount of the bonus wagers is $100.

For all wagers, once the maximum, allowable amount has been reached, an additional tap will reset the wager amount to zero. A wager can also be reset by pressing a spot and holding for a brief moment.

Dealing Cards

The Deal button becomes enabled once an Ante wager has been placed. Pressing the Deal button starts the game by dealing seven cards to both the Player and the Dealer.

Wagering

After the Player has reviewed his cards, he must determine whether he wants to remain in the hand or to Fold. Folding is surrendering. When the Player folds, his Ante wager is forfeit. Folding does not affect the Player's ability to win the bonus bets.

Important: In Keep It Straight, the Player must have a least a 2 Card Straight (two sequential cards). If the Player does not have two sequential cards, he must Fold the hand.

If the Player decides to remain in the hand, another wager must be made. This wager is made by tapping the Raise button. The amount of the wager must be 2x, 3x, or 4x the Player's initial Ante.

Ending the Hand

After the final Raise wager has been placed, the Deal button will become enabled. Pressing the Deal button will reveal the Dealer's cards and read both hands to determine the winner. If the Player decides to wager the max of 4x the original Ante, the hand will automatically end and the winner will be determined.

The Dealer must have at least a three card Straight to remain in the game. If the Dealer does not qualify, the Player's Raise wager is refunded and the Ante wager is paid even money.

In order beat the Dealer, the Player must have a Straight that contains more cards than does the Straight in the Dealer's hand. In the case of Straights with the same number of cards, the higher Straight is the winner. If the Dealer & Player have the same Straight, the hand ends as a Push.

Winning the Bonus Wagers

If optional wagers were placed for the bonus bets, the Player will be paid if there is a qualifying hand. To qualify for the Straight Bonus prize, the Player must have a Straight that contains four or more cards. The Straight Flush bonus wager is paid when there is a Straight Flush that contains three or more cards.

Payout amounts are shown in the Payout Table that is available in these instructions and by tapping the game logo on the board.

Quick Replay

The hand ends after all cards have been revealed

After a hand completes, if the Player presses the Deal button, a new hand will be dealt and the same Ante and bonus wager amounts from the preceding hand will be made. If the Player does not want to repeat the last set of wagers, play will resume after the Player has adjusted the wagers and pressed the Deal button.
